The campus is very modern, bright, and open, and very close to Lincoln city centre, and its train and bus stations. The academics and supervisors in my department actively engage in important research and are very supportive and inclusive of new researchers like me. They have challenged me to think about my subject and discipline in new, broader ways, and given me many opportunities to extend my academic and professionals skills, including teaching, presenting, writing, and researching. As a PhD student, my experience with the university outside of my department has been less welcoming and helpful. The library is not funded adequately, so sources are often very challenging to access. Training and support through the Doctoral School has been minimal, and they mainly focus (with reason) on skills specifically for international students, so not necessary for me. The Students’ Union does not appear to be equipped or confident in supporting PGR students, and university admin (including IT, finance, etc.) is often slow to resolve issues. Despite the lack of support or engagement from the university, there is a significant administrative burden on PGR students to demonstrate our own ongoing engagement.

These questions are difficult to complete as a research student with no taught material on my course - this should be taken into consideration in these surveys.

Excellent Uni - I am a mature student and have attended 4 different universities and this is the best one!
