It’s a beautiful campus with lots of green areas. It has fantastic facilities such as cafes, restaurants and a superb library. It has non academic books toi which is a perk I love. I think the students union is struggling financially so the amount they can offer to students is limited.

As a masters student, I feel I would have benefited greatly from having lectures with just volcanology students. Currently my lectures have been with 2nd and 3rd years which is fine but I’ve been learning material I already know. I would also like there to be a bit more support financially as this masters has set me back around £23,000 (with only £12,000 from the government). I have a trip to Mount Etna, Sicily which I’m really excited for but we have to book our own flights and pay for our own food whilst we are there. This has not been easy to fund! I already work 2 jobs but most of my money goes on rent and the rest on groceries. However, it’s not all bad! The lectures are such fantastic teachers and I can’t fault them at all! I have learned so much surrounding climate change since the university is very climate positive. The structure of the classes tend to be very engaging and enjoyable.

I’m in accomodation where there is 5 of us in a townhouse intended for 12 so we all get loads of space in the kitchen. My housemates are absolutely incredible and I’ve made some friends for life. In terms of the price, we were asked to live here as part of our CCA role rather than in graduate college. This means weekly we pay around £30 more but there is not any help financially. I live on the top floor and so I have to trek up 6 flights of stairs everytime I want a snack from the kitchen :( there is no lift as well :(((((
