my uni experience has been incredible so far, albeit 3 months!! the support from the faculty on my course is unmatched, the campus is beautiful, my lectures are so so interesting and the social aspects have made it so easy to make genuine friends! the thing that drew me to surrey initially was the breathtaking views on campus. i like to take walks when my mental state gets a little cloudy, so it’s so easy to feel better with all the nature around me, especially the ducks on the pond!! the only thing that could be improved, i feel, is the student union. every time i go in for a night in rubix, i don’t feel safe, will often be harassed or physically hurt, and i know lots of people have been spiked in there. security is there, but don’t like to intervene from what ive seen. but its not a dealbreaker for surrey, i think its the worst club we have anyway!! the nightlife in the town centre is a lot better and not much further away!!!

i love my course!! the content is very engaging and interactive so it makes it very interesting, it’s not one of those courses you can fall asleep on!! the lecturers are attentive, kind, supportive and helpful when you need them! as it’s a foundation year, the content is stuff you’ll generally have seen before doing a level, but there’s also SO much more content chucked in so you can’t be complacent!!! and as much as it’s broken down, it is still very challenging to keep up! my only issue with my course is the lack of contact hours. we have 8 hours of contact lectures a week, and 2 hours online. i wish this was more, so i could both consolidate my learning with the support of the lectures but also so i can have more opportunities to learn!! sometimes i find in my days off from uni i can get distracted or not be as productive as id like. it’s much easier to feel productive after a lecture!

the location for me was good because it has a social club and laundrette on site, tescos is a 10 minute walk away and lectures are a 20 minute walk! the sports park as also a MASSIVE bonus but i can’t afford it, as well as the views and the sunsets!! i have a job, however, so getting to work can be a hassle because it’s at the other end of l town and the buses are so so unreliable!! campus security are almost always on hand for any issues you may have, and there’s plenty of ways to access staff at any time! both the internet and property management are a little less than ideal. internet will often just cut out or go down for hours at a time, not helpful when i’m doing my assignments! but when it is working it’s extremely fast and you can access it everywhere in the village! maintenance team is okay, things don’t get fixed very quickly, such as the lift in my building being broken for 2 weeks (thank god no one was in a wheelchair!!) but they’re always friendly and helpful! overall for what you pay for, it’s a high high standard of accommodation for a relatively good price!
