Good location

The best thing about the University of Birmingham is the vast array of activities the university has to offer for students. No matter where your interests lie, the university will have events for you, and the Guild of Students is so welcoming and diverse. The campus is beautiful, with historic red brick buildings, yet an equally modern look with the new library and sports facilities. The whole shift from university is always scary, and it can be overwhelming at first to move into the university, especially with the amount of things you can involved with in the first few weeks, but very soon the university will start to feel like your home!

The course is absolutely amazing! The diverse range of topics we cover means that you really explore all aspects of humans, from biology and single nerve cells all the way to complex social interactions. The lecturers are all super friendly and welcoming and ease the transition from school to university. All of our lessons have been in person, which has been a huge positive as it has allowed for a proper hands on experience of university and we have been able to make new friends!

The university's location is absolutely ideal- it is one of the reasons I chose Birmingham! The university itself is self contained and a campus university, with absolutely beautiful nature such as the Vale and Green Heart. However, the city centre is just a bus ride away, with everything you could ever imagine, ranging from the biggest Primark in England, to an array of shops, restaurants and cinemas. The cost of living is super affordable too.

Elgar Court, in my opinion, is the best accommodation at the University of Birmingham. It is often underrated, yet it has some of the largest rooms, and is an ensuite self catered option. It is a great option for anyone with a mid-range budget, and has a really sociable layout kitchen area. Flat sizes are also ideal, sharing between 4-5 other students. It also offers accessible flats. The only downside is that it is the furthest from the university, with a 20 minute walk to central campus, yet the Vale is so beautiful I don't mind the walk!
