The best part of my university experience has been developing independence and critical thinking, especially through fieldwork and research-based assignments. Being able to apply theory to real-world environmental and geographical issues, work with data, and grow in confidence academically has been extremely rewarding. Also, networking and building a family and good relationships whilst studying. The most challenging part has been the pressure of deadlines and the lack of clarity or consistency in guidance for some assessments, which at times made managing workload and expectations stressful. Sometimes having the fear of asking for assistance due to the fact of feeling like I’m lagging behind everyone else.

The strongest aspect of the course is its emphasis on real-world applications, particularly through data analysis, fieldwork, and research-led teaching. The content helps develop critical thinking and practical skills that are relevant to environmental and geoscience careers. At times, the workload can feel intense, especially when multiple deadlines cluster together.
