Before I came here I’d heard that the city is basically run by students, and I heard right, there are so many here and that’s great. You really feel like a part of something, even though obviously you kind of have to have your wits about you and be smart: don’t walk home alone, get taxis rather than walking all the way back to the student village, don’t leave a drink unattended etc. Anyone applying should definitely visit the city for maybe like a weekend beforehand so you can get a feel for what the city’s like, because open days don’t really do it justice.

My course is really fun, interesting and varied so I am never left bored. I like that I have the option to study abroad, which is something Manchester are really big on encouraging you to do, because it adds an extra dimension to your degree. The lecturers are good and although the lectures last quite a long time you do get breaks so it’s easy to stay focused. You should make sure you really read up on the layout of the course before applying so you don’t get any unwelcome surprises once you’re at uni.
