Because of Covid, this year has been a little disjointed. Although my course is online, it’s been difficult to work in the conditions and mentally it is challenging. We have not been aloud into the college at all this year even to use the library spaces. My course has though, been okay as a lot of the work is in your own time and the lectures have still be interesting and helpful. I would have liked a little more personal guidance from the course or from the university as I have struggled a little with the assignments and how to interpretate them. I like that we have bi monthly sessions with the teachers and other class members to run ideas and ask queries. It always nice to see everyone’s else ideas and get their thoughts, critiques and praises on your own work. I inherently do enjoy the course and I like the freedom but would like just a little more support during this difficult time.

As an online course we don’t generally get to use the college facilities but having previously studied at the university, I know that the photography studios are brilliant and there are so many resources to use including mac computers, an extensive library, a great kit room with all kinds of apparatus and lots of quite study spaces. There is also an on site art shop which sells anything you need for projects from paint and paper and notebooks to memory sticks, phone chargers and even stickers and bags.

The mental health service is okay. They have drop in sessions which is good. Following the session, I did not receive any further help though.

Our course is part time and online. The lectures are interesting and the teachers are charismatic and very knowledgable on the subject. We don’t tend to have one to one tutorials at all but we have small group tutorials with other members of the class in a more peer orientated study style. The work is mostly independent as the other course members are from all around the world.

Being the alumni of such a prestigious art college comes with good job prospects. We receive daily emails on job prospects and there are frequent lectures from industry professionals. The graduate shows bring in lots of high profile people and are great places to mingle and schmooze your way into a job.
