More study spaces, better bursaries, staff given better wages that keep with inflation but also more secure contracts. Smaller geography tutorials there’s 70-90 students crammed into one room, just defeats the purpose and point of tutorials.

More blended learning

Circuit is too expensive, rent is too high but also direct debit you can only do for 6 or 7 months which means the rent is £774 or £645 a month - ridiculous. No sofas or tv in my flat. Table and chairs are awful to sit on in the kitchen. No recycling bin provided we have to use tesco bags. Fridge and freezer too small. Showers are boxes - some of which you can’t even move the head of the shower it shoots like a hose in one direction as if I’m a plant. Dodgy water pressure. Extremely hot water, flatmates and I burned ourselves many times

Geography Department is very up to date with current issues of debate which makes for thought-provoking essays and work. University provides a bursary people from low income households which I know has been a god send in peace of mind allowing me to really focus on my studies and do better, although I do think bursaries should be increased now that inflation is at an all time high paired with the cost of living crisis. Quite a lot of staff strikes mean interesting topics aren’t covered, although we aren’t assessed on things we haven’t been briefly taught, it feels wrong to be paying £9250 a year only for less lectures to take place than intended… I also think the Uni needs to hire more tutors and markers for some subjects essays back after 5 weeks is a bit of a joke also I was told at the open day by a male geography lecturer that geography tutorials aim to be small groups of 12 with a tutor (although this is true for archaeology) there’s at least 60 of us… with 4 tutors spread out…

Perfect. They’re not just experts in their fields, you can tell they’re all enjoying whatever it is they specialise in and honestly first year some stuff covered at A level I am familiar with but they add so much that I haven’t thought about before. First year is like A level and quite a bit more which I love. Fieldwork labs projects were fun although I heard each student in physics projects afterwards get to rank and give feedback about how they felt other members contributed to the project which geography doesn’t do YET I hope they also change this and do something similar. I like how the course is laid out with the world blocks and timetabled. Favourite subject, so happy this is my degree, definitely worth going to Uni to do.

Everyone’s in Murano, it’s the social perk of being a first year. Place is always buzzing and you’re bound so see someone you know and stop for a lengthy chat. Amazon locker is handy tho it is sometimes full. No problem with WiFi tho am located at the centre of Murano Village. Showers need an upgrade… some shower heads don’t move it’s more like a tap that shoots water in one direction permanently. The other moves but water pressure is almost non-existent and strangely cold whilst the other is not.
