Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
An amazing community that truly feels like a home away from home. There is something for everybody to enjoy at Exeter, a place for everyone to fit into. The academic standards are being pushed higher and higher every year, the new facilities are second to none, the Guild is inclusive, diverse and represents everyone. I cannot recommend this University highly enough.
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
Beautiful and new! The library has everything you could need, the social areas are welcoming and friendly. A place you WANT to be in more than have to. Sports facilities, and especially the new gym, are second to none.
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Wonderful. Everything you need is within easy reach, and the support services are sensitive, helpful, and most of all there for whatever you need.
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
Inclusive, diverse, representing every student. So many clubs and societies- something for everybody! An amazing community that made everyone feel at home.
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
Fun, safe, relaxed, loud, quiet, calm, exciting. Everything you could want!
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
Fantastic! SO many to choose from, and every society is so welcoming and friendly it's like finding a whole new family away from home.
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
A wide range of choice allowing you to do exactly what you want- and if they do not have an expert in what you want they will do their best to accommodate your needs.
I was totally inspired by my final year history lecturer, truly a leader in his field. I was humbled to have even met him, but when I realised how dedicated he was to teaching us students, and how he would always have time for us even though he was doing some pioneering, world-leading research, I was absolutely amazed. World-class.
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
The careers department is fantastic. They provide useful, impartial advice and are always available for whatever you need. Far from the traditional representation of careers advisors as people that cannot get jobs themselves! They help with local, national and international opportunities- and students go on to such a diverse range of roles. Fantastic. I'm just starting my career now and am proud to claim I came from Exeter!
University halls
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
Something to cater for everyone. I stayed in a brand new, well-maintained block and was put with people with similar interests to myself; these people, who I met on my first day at University in my flat, are now lifelong friends four years later.
