YSJ is a wonderful university. Throughout my three years here I have been supported both academically and personally, the staff and students are all very friendly and helpful in my experience. The campus seems to always be improving as after every summer holiday multiple areas will have been spruced up, so it always feel polishes and exciting. The majority of food and drink prices are great but certain snacks and drinks can be quite expensive. Student life can be very fun, however York student properties are a joke and affording rent has been one of my biggest struggles in my years here. I understand that the university is not to blame for student accommodation prices outside of the uni, but it is a struggle that most students are dealing with. On the whole I would absolutely recommend this university and I will miss it very much when I leave!

My course is jam packed with opportunities to learn about my future career and I feel confident moving forward into teaching. My only complaint about the teaching is sometimes the lectures feel lazy and just reading off the slides, this can be frustrating after a long day of workshops. The placements are the best part of my course I look forward to it every year.

Unfortunately my experience at limes court did not reflect the positive aspects of this university. I had an extremely frustrating few months when a family of rodents were living in the roof of my accommodation. I sent videos to the maintenance team of screeching animals running around in my roof, it was extremely loud and irritating, however I was told it is the pipes! After about 5 months of me begging for someone to come round and look they finally did and removed the birds. I never received an apology or any compensation for the months of frustration and sleepless nights I went through. We were also told we would have an onsite security guard but I never once saw them.

I really enjoy my studies at York St John; however, I would say that there isn’t as much support for commuting students as there should be.
