The facilities and the staff are of a very high standard. There are also lots of opportunities to engage with alongside the degree, such as the Drama Society for performing and creating theatre, as well as a multitude of other societies for almost anything you could imagine! The degree is engaging and intellectual, providing a fair balance of academic thinking and analysis as well as a creative outlet (performing, scriptwriting, devising, etc.), and the varying modules allow you to explore a broad range of topics and areas of expertise. There are not currently that many choices for optional modules, which although means you can sometimes end up being stuck on a module (or a few!) that you don't enjoy, it also means you may end up enjoying a module more than you expected you would, and that module may have been one that you chose not to partake in, had you had the choice. A small note is that, for people who wish to (solely) perform, although the degree doesn't advertise itself as being a performance-intensive one, I have found that I have spent more time performing and bringing shows to life via the University's Drama Society than with the degree, so that is something to bear in mind.

All of the degree is (or has returned to being) in person, which is far more ideal for me, personally (I know I would not be able to focus with only online lectures). The degree has a greater emphasis on independent work and bringing your thoughts, reflections, and any preparatory work that has been requested to the seminars, rather than other degrees which are lecture-heavy/-focused. For me, this is far more appealing and suited to my learning style, but may not suit everyone - for instance, if you miss a week's reading due to personal circumstances/situations, you will struggle to engage with that week's seminar, possibly making it feel like a waste of your time. Sometimes, it can feel a little odd that your timetable seems so empty (and sometimes it can feel like a mistake!), but once you get into the flow of how the degree operates and why the timetable is arranged as it is, it makes far more sense.

Constantine College is the most expensive at the University, and I would possibly argue as to why that is. We had a few issues across the academic year - and although the University did sort them out at a very reasonable pace (far more so than my house currently) - the fact that we had those issues for the price we were paying was a little concerning. Our kitchen wasn't in the most pristine condition upon our arrival, although I suppose that is to be expected to some degree, and we were missing a kettle and a toaster. In essence, my main reflection was: why was Constantine so expensive? I don't know why it is priced so, but I wonder whether it should be (comparing it to the other colleges, such as Langwith). I still thoroughly enjoyed my time there, however; I am just being very specific. I think there are definitely a few positives and negatives between living in halls and houses, but I think everyone should - if they can - experience both to discover which works best for themselves.
