The only good thing about my course is the job prospects, other than that it is really bad. The only reason I gave an overall rating of four is because of the friendships I have made at Uni and because we are close to London. I would not recommend coming here to study.

For starters, as a first year university student I was very easily overwhelmed and often found myself isolating myself and struggling alone. Reaching our to staff members, student well being and other services the university offered allowed me to completely change my views on the entire university experience. Everyone here at herts are incredibly supportive and helpful! Academically, there is so much support available online and face to face to assist you with course work, exams and in class tests. Lecturers go above and beyond to support students with their academic needs and they even try their hardest to give students fair treatment during difficult personal matters. One such way they can improve is a more generic way, by giving more detailed feedback on assignments. However in most cases its much easier to contact the assessor for direct feedback and have a discussion about the assignment. Lecturers at herts often give you plenty of opportunities to reach out and have a discussion so there's nothing to worry about!

I've had a mix of online and face to face learning in my 2 years at Hertfordshire University. Pros: The lecturers are very attentive practitioners that genuinely care about their students. They often use interactive resources/techniques to teach students, making a boring lesson a lot more fun even with difficult topics. Initially there was too much online learning, however in my 2nd year it all became face to face again which has massively improved the general understanding most students have. Cons: It can sometimes be hard to study for exams amd complete assignments on time with placements coming up, but Hertfordshire University does its best to be as accommodating as possible. Unfortunately, a better solution would be to arrange the assignments at different times to avoid so much cross over. But lecturers won't change the due dates. Note worthy mentions: lecturers are very good at getting involved with student inquiries and responding to emails. Should a meeting be requested the lecturers often get back to you quickly and no question goes unanswered!

The accommodations can often be a hit or miss. Sometimes you get a clean kitchen and good flatmates and other times you get a messy kitchen and a dirty flat. You are required to say if you want to live with mature student or young students, or in a single gender flat. Unfortunately the accommodation department just ignored these requests. Cons: the price of the accommodations are very expensive, making it difficult to truly appreciate them. The hot water and radiators often turn off and the uni won't have someone fix them over the weekend. So if it happens on Friday evening you just have to survive until Monday. This happens to me regularly and it can be very annoying. Unfortunately there's no guarantee they'll come on Monday either so you just have to wait for maintenance to sort it out. Furthermore there is a huge WiFi problem, it seems half the university has terrible WiFi signal. To the point you cannot connect to WiFi or get any type of signal. There are ways to get around it but the university should do better given the expensive process students pay for accommodation. Pros: The accommodation are so close to the university that it makes getting to class very easy (That's great for students that leave for class at the very last second haha). Every accommodation area has there own unique common room that makes it a great place to hang out with friends to unwind and chill.
