OVERALL UNIVERSITY RATING
Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
Amazing- I couldn’t have wished for anything better! From the moment I stepped foot on campus for the open day, I knew Loughborough Uni was where I wanted to be. It feels like a second home. The teaching and academic side is fantastic quality, but the personal side is important too and it’s amazing. I couldn’t have chosen a better uni!
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
The lecturers always make us aware of any information or skills being developed that are beneficial to our employability. We have a specific careers website and guest speakers in, as well as an entire building dedicated for free advice to drop in or create an appointment for CVs, interview practice, assessment centres or covering letters. Placements are always encouraged to get experience and the uni help us with finding them, as well as regular emails being sent out to notify us all of career opportunities
Course and Lecturers
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
I love that the lectures are recorded on lecture capture, meaning that you don’t miss out on the teaching if you’re ill. The least is how the timetable is scheduled, with some days very busy and some quiet.
How many contact hours per week do you have?
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
It’s one of the best I’ve been to (from visiting friends at other unis)! Always a brilliant night out with multiple rooms for different types of music, many bars with drinks deals, always an event on every night. Sober nights and other activities go on as well, including all the cafes.
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
My accommodation is absolutely fabulous- better than at home! My room is large enough, modern and has an ensuite, and the kitchen is large and modern for my flatmates to cook in at the same time. There are always loads of events going on so we get to know everyone in our hall as well, and committee are so dedicated and supportive
How good are your university's facilities?
Amazing- the lecture theatres are spacious and with the most modern technology, and the sports facilities are unrivalled.
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
Busy enough to have lots going on but small enough that it feels safe. Plenty of supermarkets, restaurants, nightclubs and cinemas etc so never bored. Quick walk in to town or can get the bus
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
Such a huge range of clubs and societies, from sports to Harry Potter quidditch!
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
We always have meetings with personal tutors, and we get feedback quickly from assignments online with the option to go for a meeting to discuss the results further
