Medicine campus has a great location to the city centre, the facilities are great with 24 hour access to some study spaces and bookable slots for self directed learning facilities. Good student life, but maybe not as lively as some people might want. Overall really good uni and I'm enjoying uni life so far.

Very good teaching quality, medicine has a lot of content to learn and so it is good that we have a large amount of contact hours each week. Good mix of seminars, lectures and small group learning. Medicine is an intense course but that will be the same wherever you go because of the amount of content you need to learn but Exeter balances this with the use of a spiral curriculum.

Great location very close to lots of shops, the city centre, train stations and both uni campuses. Security is good with key card or key access for the courtyard, block, flat and rooms, however there is normally a congregation of homeless people outside the accommodation which can feel intimidating. The WiFi is generally good with minimal interruptions. I would say it is overpriced as it costs the same as many much newer accommodations with better facilities whereas James Owen is a lot older. Maintenance is usually quite good responding to reports fairly quickly however it is always quite cold.

Medicine at Exeter Rowancroft campus is so cosy and like a village of medical students - I loved it. Exeter uni chuck you down to Cornwall for 1-2 years as part of their course which isn't made clear and students are not offered enough support so we've been fighting for it. The facilities at St. Luke's are great with lots of anatomy models. The teaching is hit and miss with some excellent clinical lecturers and others with less teaching skills but a breadth of knowledge. Overall I unfortunately wouldn't recommend this medical school as though some of the staff are incredible the quality of education is shocking. It is not worth the debt. Most students use older years teaching or online sources like passmed, quesmed, spranki and geeky medics to learn. This is not acceptable for the sheer thousands of pounds we spend on the degree. Exeter needs to start teaching its students effectively and supporting them when they are struggling. I loved my years here because of the friends I've made and experiences, but paying for subpar teaching that wasn't being addressed and watching my fellow students suffer meant I do not think kindly for my medical school anymore. In some ways this may just be because we are used to high quality teaching from the colleges/schools we have come from that would offer revision sessions, resources and guidance and perhaps that is not what uni is about and they would like us to be 'adult learners' thrown in at the deep end. I hope you get into a medical school you can be proud of and that you enjoy your time because it is an amazing experience! Saskia

My experience: Years 1-2: 8hrs of contact time a week with prerecorded online lectures to do in my own time. I am glad they have brought back in person lectures this year as our contact time was appallingly low - this was at the time really lovely for doing hobbies and enjoying the city but not beneficial for our learning.

The entire campus was medics or sports science / radiology / neuroscience students. This was great for getting to know your course mates however many people found it very narrow for meeting other students on different courses. I loved my time in halls but perhaps would have opted for one of the cheaper nearby accommodations as I heard good reviews from friends.
