Plymouth is an amazing city to study in. The whole city feels like it's centred around students and being by the coast is just amazing! The university is very supportive and likes to get our feedback often. Student life is amazing with so many amazing societies and so many amazing places to go on a night out! The only improvement I have would be to update the facilities. Plymouth is a very concrete grey city and it'd be nice to see the university developing modern buildings that add some colour and excitement to the city! I also think that the facilities are too small for the ever growing student population. The library often has no seats available in peak exam periods and there is only one sports hall which is shared between netball, volleyball, basketball, badminton etc etc so it's often fully booked which makes it difficult for sports to organise training sessions and matches.

Plymouth does one thing amazing in medicine which is the practical side which a lot of people would say is the most important. We get great placements since year 1 and lots of clinical skills practice which is great! However because of this focus there is one major thing that Plymouth forgets and that is the academic content of the course. It is known in Derriford hospital and around the country that Plymouth students have an awful knowledge of anatomy/physiology and more academic sides of the course. As a student this is frustrating, it feels that it is down to us to bridge this gap in knowledge when the gap just shouldn't be there in the first place. I think this lack of knowledge stems from bad teaching in first and second year. LSRC is the worst aspect of the whole course, the structure of what they taught us when made no sense and the content of the learning was often completely overcomplicated! I also think that the lack of topic tests gives students no incentive to ever learn the content. As a student myself I dread the thought of more exams like anyone, however I think that having at the end of each topic (even if just a formative assessment) would really help me to consolidate my learning. Other universities implement these sorts of tests and I think that is why they have such a better academic knowledge. AMK exams are very useful to have but have no relevance to the basic academic content doctors need to know so there needs to be exams alongside these AMKs.

Radnor accommodation was amazing. It was in the most ideal location to reach everything in the city. It was always well kept and had really good WIFI. I have no complaints it was an amazing place to stay in first year!
