The best experience I have had at uni so far must be the friends I've made and how I can apply what I learn at my course to my every day life. I really feel I've grown as a person. My worst experience is definitely when I got assaulted on my way home from the bar. I do feel a bit unsafe around campus when it's dark outside, and wouldn't really advice anyone to walk alone. I believe this has to change. However, teachers and other staff were very helpful and understanding and I truly felt like they took the situation to heart and have since checked up on me know and again, which is so kind!

I love most of my teachers and think they are great, there are however sometimes when some teachers try to pry answers from the students. I do understand wanting the students to be engaged and it sucks when no one wants to speak up, but when a teacher spends 5+ minutes trying to coax the answers out of students I find that the tension in the classroom becomes uncomfortable and valuable teaching time is wasted. I really enjoy how all of my teachers seem to have a real passion for what they teach. Everyone is engaged and excited to be there, no one is reading straight from a PowerPoint but actually talking to us so we can understand it. Very high quality of teaching and it's clear they're highly educated in their fields!

As a mature student the choice to attend uni was always a big one but I’ve learnt to take every moment and help people where I can. Life inexperience is so valuable and Essex appreciate this. The uni supports gals for achievement and has a feeling of family. Worst aspect cleanliness can be low in some areas. Best aspect tutors that care in the pathways department. So many study spaces available. Good choices for student living on campus. Good choice of courses.

Having time for everything is vital and Essex ensures this is available. The only downside is large gaps between lectures.
