Birmingham is a beautiful location and the campus is in a lush, green area in the heart of Edgbaston. The campus has lots of study spaces (which was a selling point for me), such as the 24/7 library. There are also plenty of facilities on campus, ranging from its own university merch shop and plenty of places to get food and drink (e.g. Starbucks, Costa, library cafe). It also has its own train station which has been newly renovated, which makes it so convenient to travel to placements or into the city centre with friends. The university is always acting upon student feedback which is good to see, and generally I think lots of students feel well supported by the university and know where to get help from if needed. In terms of improvement, there could be better lighting along the walking pathways surrounding the university (e.g. along the way to Pritchatts Park). Perhaps there could be more facilities within the buildings themselves, such as more microwaves. However, they are only minor improvements.

The nature of my course means that most of it is in-person teaching, comprised of a mixture of small group teachings, lectures, anatomy practicals, clinical case studies, self-guided study and sorting out difficulty sessions. The course hours are long and my schedule during the week is normally packed, and always changes from week to week. Most of the lecturers are very helpful, and always provide their contact details should you need any help and need to contact them. Placements are always a highlight of my course too, in which we attend them every fortnight. However, the only thing is we don't get reimbursed transport-wise for our placements unfortunately.

Ashcroft is definitely the best value-for-money university hall! Especially for my course, it is less than a 10 minute walk to the medical school and less than 5 minutes to get to the train station. It is so near campus and it is a really ideal location if you prefer being in a quiet area (compared to the loud parties at the Vale). The hub is great here too, and I often study here. Reception staff are mostly lovely too and usually whenever I have logged a maintenance issue, it is sorted out very well most of the time. The wifi is great too, never had an issue with it at all.
