I believe in general, Stirling Uni is not lacking in any department. Overall there is a general feeling of security as a student that you will not be left unsupervised without help. The best aspect of my uni experience so far is the communication and accessibility. As a practical student who wants to enter into a creative industry, the accessibility to practical software and also guidance along the journey of understanding the section of my learning has been so helpful. I would say the thing that is lacking to me is the idea that within the student union itself, there is an understanding of having to know connections to further connect with the student union. I feel the atmosphere for the student union is good when you are involved and there is open access even which are successful. Where the student union is lacking is the feeling that you have to be "in the know" of who to be friends with to be in the circle of opportunity.

I believe the best aspect of my course is the openness to the course content. Within film & media, there is an openness to explore the various paths and careers that students are hoping to enter when leaving University. The worst aspect is the narrowed facilities, I believe that while they do offer a good range however if you don't learn in a certain way you do understand that you will be lacking from the beginning. So for example you learn AVID and Protools which is extremely useful for careers however if you haven't learnt on a MAC or learnt certain Apple technologies it comes across as an obstacle that they haven't considered.

I believe I am currently in one of the better value-for-money halls. The general life and management are somewhat good. There are some issues with reporting issues and not receiving any help for a time that would be deemed a bit too long. I do believe that before you move into a hall, more checks should be made as I moved into a hall with no heating/warm water and also my desk had been broken (has not been fixed yet as I moved in September and it's now February) I understand that Stirling has more issues with pricing and I could not see myself living in the more expensive accommodations as i believe them to be excessively priced and not student-friendly!

With Stirling being a campus university it creates a great community feel, the facilities available are incredible especially the sport facilities which I use regularly. They are always promoting a healthy lifestyle and the support I have received since starting has been amazing and helped me to succeed through my first semester.

The film and media staff have been incredibly engaging and having the macroberts arts centre such a focus point for Stirling university it only drives more enthusiasm into the course!
