I'm very glad I decided to pick this university and that I was accepted and got in? Nice and relatively prestigious uni, very student friendly city, very active students union, huge choice of societies to join great campus

Computers are high in demand but if you walk around to enough labs you'll soon come across one. The online centre for lecturers to pay their now and other announcements (Blackboard) is easy to navigate. I put four stars because I'm not aware of all of the facilities available. As a maths student I don't need all that much.

I feel very supported in my studies. Enabling services provide help for any problems you may have with your studies, there's a university counseling service plus Nightline, a service you can ring to confidentially talk to someone about any worries you might have without judgement. If you're eligible for grants due to household income the university gives extra bursaries or fee waivers to support you financially.

They're very involved with the university and are very keen on getting as many students involved as possible. The events they organise like fresher's week, events at the SU pub and more are nice and they're very well advertised and visible. Any student can propose a policy to be discussed in the union council.

There is a huge range of night clubs and bars to discover, each night at least of one them will have a student night where you can get cheaper drinks and entry. I particularly like The Hobbit, a themed pub/music venue with themed point cocktails and a huge garden. There is also a massive shopping centre, several ice cream bars, an IMAX cinema... There is no shortage on things to do.

Massive range of societies. You get the chance to pick up information on evey single one at the bunfight each year (nobody knows why it's called that) during fresher's week. There are plenty of facilities to accommodate for these societies and as a committee member I think the university campus is great for societies and events.

The university of Southampton offers a wide range of courses. I'm studying mathematics and so far I'm enjoying it. It's high on the league table for mathematics especially considering that Further Maths A Level is not essential in order to get an offer from this university. I put four stars because not all of the lecturers are perfect, plus the school of mathematics is in the faculty of Social and Human Sciences, which I find a bit weird.

There are careers fairs all the time and you get emails telling you what's going on every week. They have a range of companies attending and plenty of information available. Can also do a graduate passport scheme which shows potential employers that you are knowledgeable about your career choice. City has plenty of job opportunities, I only put for state because London is close by and many people gravitate there instead

In my first year the university didn't have enough accommodation for the amount of students who came in, however since then they've built several more buildings in order to ensure everyone gets a room. You get a free bus pass in the first year and the buses all go either directly to of within walking distance of halls. The rooms are a lot more spacious than you'd expect at a London university. I was part catered, the food was a step up from school dinners but home made food is preferable.
