Tell us about your overall university experience so far.

my overall experience of university so far is very good. I have been provided with lots of opportunities academically, but also socially, which is good to see from a higher education establishment. It is also good that they provide good quality accommodation.

Job Prospects

How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?

During the second year of the undergraduate course, one module is a work-based learning placement which provides you with the opportunity of work experience and allows you to see what is needed for that career path. The university also offers careers advice and seminars on employability skills. They also provide the chance to help you start up your own business.

Course and Lecturers

What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?

All of my lectures are taught to small groups, max 30 students. This allows chance for lecturers to get to know students and they can easily ask if students need help. The thing I like the least is the fact that more than half of the department do not have English as their first language so communication is easily misunderstood.

The facilities are very commendable, and the student representation level is high

They are always kept to a high standard

Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?

On the main campus so easy access to University amenities and a 10 minute walk away from the main street in the city centre so can access all possible local amenities within half an hour's walk

Societies and Sports

How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?

There are one or two I would have joined that are available at other universities, but the selection it does have is wide variety

Student Support

How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).

the personal support is outstanding. They care a lot about the students as individuals and don't give the feel of being part of a factory, which you would get at some of the bigger universities. The academic support is good, but because of some of the language barriers with some of the lecturers it can not always be to the highest standard.
