Swansea is a great place to live as a student - it's by the sea so you can get away from the busy centre if that's what you like, but there's also loads to do in the centre (both for nightlife and daytime). What stands out for me at Swansea University is the great student support that we are constantly reminded of during term, and the Students' Union really goes above and beyond to have a variety of events for all types of students. The campuses are small but modern.

My department is quite small so I really get to know all of my lecturers and other students taking the same modules as me, which I prefer. There is an emphasis on independent work (reading, watching videos, doing exercises) which really engage me with my lectures and seminars so I am always learning. There are not too many linguistic-specific facilities, but all the staff are research-focused and genuinely passionate about what they teach, so this is made up for! The career prospects are richer than I originally thought, and the careers/employability team for students of linguistics/English language (and beyond) are amazing in advertising internships and work experience opportunities throughout the year.
