Tell us about your overall university experience so far.

Overall, university has been a rollercoaster. Do not expect it to be everything good as it does test you. However, it is an experience worth if you want to grow.

Facilities

How good are your university's facilities?

Student support

How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).

The tutors on my course are all extremely lovely and are willing to talk about any issues regarding essays, the workload, or personal issues if you ask them. There are various on-campus student support centres to help with various issues.

Students' union

What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?

The Students' Union have been amazing when it comes to student representation. We have the Campaigns' Network which campaigns and holds events for LGBTQ+, Women's Network, BAME student, International Students and much more. In terms of facilities, we have the Students' Union itself where most events are held in the Engine Shed as well as on-campus student pubs and bars.

Local life

Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?

I would not recommend this accommodation to students who prefer to be really close to their university because I have to walk 20 mins to get to university. Also, the major supermarkets are too far out to walk to meaning I have to order online however, I do not mind this. I was mainly looking for accommodation that was cheaper than university accommodation as well as a quiet area with a good landlord.

How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?

We get a range of societies and sports, and new ones have been made over the past year.

Lecturers and teaching quality

What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?

What I like: I thoroughly enjoy the seminars because they allow for open discussion and it is encouraged to voice all opinions. You are not told how to think or what to write on. What I do not like: Some of the modules are really challenging and the amount of reading can be overwhelming, particularly when you have more than 3 books per week.

Career prospects

How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?

The university has its own careers and employability centre dedicated to everything careers. It hold workshops on various areas of employability from CV writing to interviews, and you are allowed to book one-to-one sessions with a member of this centre for advice. They hold events such as 'how to get a graduate job with...' which are run by big companies such as BBC, Penguin Books, and much more.
