Chester is a nice homely place for a student with many things to do within uni and in the town. However, improvements could be a larger range of societies that aren't sports-based and with placements that are abroad I think it was oversold

I think with my course specifically I was told that there would be more hands-on experience, and abroad opportunities.

I think there should be events or things going on within these halls as it is harder to connect to people compared to others but these were good halls.

The Volunteering Team is amazing and there are a lot of volunteering opportunities for students to take part in. The lecturers all really care and try to help when you ask for help. The LIS team can help with almost anything too, and they’re very kind. It would be better if the campuses weren’t so far away from each other, as some days I have to commute between two or three of the campuses and as I don’t drive or have a bike, nor can I afford one, I have to walk this. It could also be improved by including societies more instead of disregarding them and favouring sports, the health and safety and mental health training is prioritised for sports teams and societies aren’t allowed to get society photos taken in January unlike Sports Clubs. I also feel like more could be done for students who are struggling financially instead of just asking if they’re in their overdraft or in debt. Help should be offered to avoid getting into debt instead of waiting for students to actually be in serious trouble. Furthermore, I personally have to work over 20 hours a week on top of uni just to afford to live as my student loan doesn’t even cover my accommodation. More money should be spent on helping students in this situation instead of into trips and staff pay rises.

The course is great, it’s taught mostly in person spread over 3 days a week, I like the lesson timings, except I would prefer to have less 9am classes. The content is good, especially the french class. I love my french lecturer, she makes so much effort and actually asks and cares about how I’m doing, likewise for my Intercultural module leader.

Great place to meet new people, the Storyhouse has lots of events and opportunities for young people, there are lots of options of supermarkets to shop at, and lots of places to shop. There are lots of buses and the buses aren’t too expensive However the clubs aren’t great and it’s very expensive to live in Chester. The clubs, bars and shops are expensive. Also, there isn’t very mush student accommodation near the Queen’s Park Campus.
