Brighton is a lovely place to both live and study. The moulsecoomb campus is situated just outside the city centre. This allows students to be surrounded by Brighton's lively atmosphere, while also studying and attending lectures in a slightly less busy area of Brighton. The campus is mostly new, with modern buildings and accommodation (Mithras). Slightly older buildings do remain and older/cheaper accommodation at the campus is available (Moulsecoomb place). The lecturers seem genuinely interested in both the modules they are teaching as well as the welfare and success of their students. The university have had lots of staff strikes which have impacted many students. Although these strikes have now ended, the university took months to resolve this. The transport to and from off campus accommodations such as Varley Park can be difficult and unreliable.

The course is taught by high quality members of staff, who care equally about their research and their students success. The course is taught through small lecture and seminar groups, as well as the occasional tutorial/workshop. Feedback is made easily available due to lecturers fast replies to emails. There are around 9 hours of contact time a week, which I feel should be increased. The lectures are not recorded meaning you cannot go over the content in the same depth and if you miss a lecture it can be challenging to catch up because of this.

Varley Park halls are situated between falmer and moulsecoomb campus (around 30 mins away) and far away from the city centre. There is good security and cars lap the halls frequently in the evenings. The transport to and from Varley is very unreliable and difficult to manage, busses are often running late or full. Bus tickets also accumulate, making living there more expensive than you would expect. There are nearby corner shops a walkable distance from Varley, however the prices are much higher than at the aldi.

I really enjoy studying at the University of Brighton. I study at the mouslecoomb campus in the new business and law building, Elm House, which creates a really nice study environment and has good facilities such as a cafe which is reasonably priced. I also live in the newly built student accommodation which is right opposite where I study which was a major aspect that I looked at when choosing a uni. The student union is very helpful and are always hosting fun events and there are so many societies to join. Overall, I love the uni experience in Brighton.

For some parts of my course, I feel as though we are not being taught to the full potential due to the lack of lecturers that specialise in the subjects. I would like to have more contact time per week to make the most of my learning. I enjoy the course content and it is very interesting and related to careers that I potentially will look in to in the future.

My uni halls are very new and therefore very modern which makes them a great place to live for first year. However, being brand new makes them a little expensive but I believe that it is worth the money as we have great services, I always feel safe with 24/7 security and the whole atmosphere is very nice. We also have a student bar connected to the buildings which is great for socialising and meeting new people, perfect for first years. The internet is pretty good, there has been no major issues with it so far. The location is also really great and is one of the main reasons on why I decided to come to Brighton, as it is a two minute walk across the bridge to get to the campus where I study most days of the week.
