My overall experience at the university of kent has been brilliant so far especially during the COVID-19, I was provided with different facilities and assistances to help with my course and my experience.

The university has a great campus and student support is active in checking in on student’s mental health and providing support both for mental health and academic reasons. The society’s provide a great opportunity to socialise and improve student night life. However, the stud student union function more as a business than as a study body representation. They charge for hot water in the campus library, taking advantage of students that cannot afford basics as they are in need of money, themselves. They need more funding.

My quantitative research placement is great for my career prospects after university. The lectures always go above and beyond, helping in their contact hours where they can. The content has always been interesting and informative for projects/assignments. I wish there were more research based modules to provide skills for post graduate opportunities, such as excel and other data visualisation tools, as these were not used until my final year optional module

The accommodation was clean and lovely as it was large. But we had cleaners come into our rooms without knocking or notice at random hours of the day, and the price for the accommodation is over £10k for the year, which is over double my maintenance loan. That is crazy to expect a student to pay just for accommodation
