I have enjoyed my first year experience a lot. Despite covid, the majority of my course was in person which allowed me to make really great friends on my course who I talk to everyday. I initially thought not knowing anyone and travelling to a different country alone would be terrifying but my experience at Chester has allowed me to overcome that fear and really enjoy myself.

Great, especially the Binks building which is where the majority of my lectures take place.

There is always lots of ways to join in with events hosted by the university, especially during the covid pandemic.

Overall I believe the courses were taught well however sometimes it was really confusing as to what we actually had to do to achieve high grades. It sometimes seemed like we were just expected to know a lot more than what we were told to do or taught.

There are many job opportunities provided to students in Chester.

I like how it’s a mix between a small and box city, around campus there’s a few streets and areas that remind me of the northern Irish countryside where I grew up and then there’s also the city centre which still has a cosy feel but also is a stones throw away from big cities like Liverpool.

I think because of the fact that the Chinese year abroad is online, it’s very disheartening but we continue to work hard. To make up for it we have been able to participate in different placements with different languages that we also study
