The uni of Brighton has a great level of inclusivity and diversity and some of the lecturers are clearly very passionate about what they teach. However, the management of the university is very clearly run with profit in mind and therefore is run like a business. Despite the fact that the university teaches about the dangers and fallacy of capitalism, it clearly cares more about attracting new students to the uni then keeping longstanding and important lectures as part of the alumni, meaning that many valuable courses are no longer running.

There is a good level of contact hours despite the large amount of strikes and although there are teachers who regularly only read off the PowerPoint slides, some lectures really make a difference in teaching content and much of the content is genuinely intellectually stimulating.

I think the halls that I was in were standard and adequate quality, in terms of value for money they were decent and had necessary facilities and space. I was not surprised at the level of mould and damp on the walls, ceiling and en suite but the bed in my room was exceptionally hard and flat. The allocation was fine, my flatmates were acceptable. At one point I experienced vandalism to my door which was never explained but was compensated for. The halls were a short distance from the campus and had good washing facilities my favourite part was the proximity to woodland.
