Kedleston road campus is fabulous. But markeaton street and Britannia mill are so dull and bland. The facilities are rubbish for food, seating and toilets in MS especially. However, the tutors are something extremely special at Derby university. You're made to feel included, validated and they are always more than happy to help. There is a great support network to access if you need it and there is always a successful vibe when you're working or simply walking around the campus. I've had many great years at Derby uni and am happy to continue my journey here.

The lecturers are fantastic and have worked very hard in the industry they're teaching, I think they could apply some of that knowledge throughout their lectures and take us out on trips to see how it works in the real world.

The best aspect has been the feel of the campus. It is so nice and well thought out. There are inspirational quotes on the walls to inspire you as well as art displays, especially at Markeaton Street campus. There are also lots of food outlets and shops, which makes it easy to grab a bite to eat if you are hungry. There is also a bookshop on campus, where you can buy lots of interesting new releases, as well as old classics. The university offered us a free £100 Blackwell's book token to spend at the on-site Blackwell's bookshop.

My course is Journalism. The best part of the course is definitely the facilities that Derby has on offer. It has radio suites which were built by the Programme Leader, as well as Macbooks to help you edit pieces of audio and video work. We are encouraged to keep a close eye on current affairs and topics in the news. We are encouraged to make our own stories and think about how we can look at topics, and use a range of sources to form our own opinion on that topic. We are then encouraged to think about how we can come to that topic from our own unique angle, and create stories which will add to public discourse. The worst aspect of the course is that sometimes it can be a bit boring. There are fundamental building blocks of Journalism which are very important such as spelling, punctuation and grammar. We are taught that following a certain style guide to create stories is the best thing to do. This can be a bit tedious and slow when it is being taught as a 3-hour lecture each week. Luckily we do get breaks in the lecture.
