The best part about my Uni experience overall is probably the community feel Bournemouth University has, there is such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive and everyone is really helpful. The facilities here are amazing, especially for media students like myself we get trained on industry leading kit so we are confident when graduating and stepping into industry. The campus is a really nice size, it is always clean and safe and there are so many coffee shops, restaurants and study spaces that suit everyones needs. The support available whether that is academic, mental health, medical or general queries is really good and well advertised, I know where to go to seek support if I need it. The students union put on so many amazing events and opportunities. I don't think there is anything to criticise BU on specifically, I am very happy here. But if I had to give the worst aspect of Uni life it would be struggles with the cost of living at the moment, and having to balance working with studying in order to afford Uni life. However, Uni do provide a lot of things to support this and try to be flexible where they can to allow us to work as much as we need. Accommodation is very expensive which is the biggest downside I think, it is known to be a bit cheaper to live in student housing as a pose to Halls but the standard of a lot of the student houses aren't that great, many of them are cold and mouldy so living in Halls is a much nicer experience but this is ultimately much more expensive.

The best thing about my course is how practical it is and the facilities available being so high quality. We are trained to the standard of professional journalists, doing tasks similar to those out on the field and using equipment we would be expected to use. We follow formats like real-industry news days and get to produce projects across many mediums. There is an opportunity to do a placement and our teaching team provide us with lots of support for that, we have regular meetings with our personal tutor who also sends lots of placement opportunities through to us incase we are struggling. We have lots of contact hours with our teaching team which is really valuable for our learning and much more engaging than independent study. Also, they help us a lot out of hours and always respond to questions and concerns very quickly. The only criticism I have is that a few of the more theoretical units I haven't felt very engaged in, but I am more of a practical learner anyway. Other than that I really enjoy my course.

The Halls available at Bournemouth University are all really high quality, well managed and I feel safe there. I have stayed in two different Halls since being at Bournemouth University, one in my first year and then I decided to go back into Halls whilst studying my masters. After two years in student housing as I felt the quality of the accommodation was much higher and the location of the Halls was also better suited for me than the houses were. I like the fact there is a team available 24/7 for any support, and in Belaton House where I stay staff are always quick to respond to issue and fix any maintenance requests. The facilities in this Halls are really good, we have a cinema room, gym, pool table, darts, study space and outdoor space. The rooms are all well furnished, modern and a very good size and the kitchens are well equipped and have a good amount of space for everyone. I love the independence of having my own space and bathroom but there is still a really nice community feel and our accommodation put on events regularly to socialise with other students that live there. The only downside would be the cost, I understand the Halls are high quality and modern but I still feel it is very expensive overall to live there.

Poole House feels outdated, the rest of the university feels modern The facilities are great - Booking equipment on SISO could be easier.
