One of the main facilities I use is the main library located in the Cockroft building. Having it be open from early hours in the morning and late at night really allows for all types of learners, be it early birds or nocturnal, have the time and resources to put their all into their degree. The halls especially for Brighton (mithras halls specifically) have been exceptional and ill be sad to go as we have never had any problems which allows a stress free zone to focus on work. In addition, lectures and module leaders are always there to help and give great energy and commitment to students and lectures. In particular, as an introvert I find it more comfortable to communicate to teachers through email rather than in person so the consistent quick response times have been a life saver during finals and throughout the whole term. If I had to change one thing it would be how the exams are carried out. For example, some subjects exams are fully online and open book whereas courses like mine are mainly in person with closed book which can be hard to see as fair and even. However, I do acknowledge that different courses have different purposes and objectives but that is something I find difficult to accept. Overall Brighton University has been the best thing I have ever done- it has really brought me out of my shell with the great student life and welcoming, inclusive community.

My course specifically has a lot of in person contact (I go into uni for lectures every day of the week for at least 3 hours) time which can be both good and bad. On one hand, its really good because you have plenty of opportunities to talk to your lecturers and have confirmation on certain things and to build that relationship and trust with your lecturers. However, compared to courses like advents management which only go into Uni 2 days a week for 5 hours a day it can be hard to motivate yourself and have time to yourself and go out can be hard to find. Although, being in uni is what we are paying for and I couldn’t be happier with the amount of contact hours I have.

I currently live on the 15th floor of golstone halls with a great view. We also have a weekly clean of the communal space (the kitchen) which helps us put more energy into work. We also have rubbish collections every weekday which contributes to the fact that the kitchen is always a nice place to spend time in and hangout with people. The location especially is exceptional as I dont even have to cross the busy main road as there has been a bridge built over it to safely get to the University campus itself which saves a lot of time. The halls is also only a 40 minute walk or 20 minute bus journey into the town centre which is where all the nightlife is and of course the pebble beach which is perfect.

Nothing bad to say

It’s good
