Best aspects: The University of Essex has an incredibly diverse and welcoming community, which makes it a great place to study and connect with people from all over the world. My course in International Business and Finance has given me valuable practical knowledge and opportunities to apply what I learn. I’ve also had the chance to represent students and attend professional events, which has helped me grow personally and professionally. The support from lecturers and staff, along with the inclusive environment, really makes Essex stand out. Worst aspects / areas for improvement: At times, communication between departments or responses to certain queries can be a bit slow or unclear, which can cause some confusion. Improving coordination and providing quicker updates on academic or administrative matters would make the overall experience even better.

Best aspects: The course content is interesting and relevant, and I really appreciate how approachable and supportive most lecturers are. The modules offer useful insights into real-world business and finance, and I’ve learned a lot that I can apply in practice. Worst aspects / areas for improvement: I find it confusing and quite disappointing that we pay tuition fees for three terms but only have teaching during two. It feels unfair and unclear, especially for international students who expect continuous academic engagement throughout the year. It would be helpful if the university could either extend the teaching period or better explain how the third term’s fees are justified.

What I like most: I really appreciate the convenient location of the university halls and the friendly, supportive accommodation team who are always willing to help. The halls feel safe, and it’s easy to meet new people and feel part of a community. What I like least: I’ve sometimes experienced minor issues with room cleanliness or maintenance when moving in, though the team has been responsive once informed. I also wish the accommodation was a little more affordable, as it can be quite expensive for students. Overall, though, I’m grateful for the comfort and convenience it provides.
