Balanced urban city with shops(thrift, vintage, normal range) and greenery (parks, peak district). Close approximity with other cities to travel and explore the UK. Cheaper living costs compared to other cities. Nice, friendly people since its a student city (locals live more on the outskirts of the city).

In person classes with certain recorded lectures. Zero maths (unless you care enough to do the additional content on it). Very hands on and practical based learning. Forces you to get used to reading documentation or prompting ChatGPT for the code. Has good content on using AI, LLMs on the course as well as the ethics of using them in other aspects of our lives. Has essays and reports too.

Would only recommend for first years with no friends before coming to Sheffield. You get roomed with fellow first years in the same boat. Very isolated and quieter compared to part animal filled Endcliffe. (Though Endcliffe is quiet too depending on just when students throw parties during Halloween, Christmas, new year celebrations etc.). Really enjoyed it there with all the free resLife events (including food banks, language exchange classes, cook or baking sessions, meeting animals etc.)

Sheffield is a nice and quiet city with loads of things to do. From the hustle and bustle of the city centre to the peaceful scene of its parks, you have it all. The UoS is a massive part, with campus buildings located all over the city. The students' union is the largest in the country, with lots of activities to do and all sorts of clubs and communities. However, lately the university's strategy is in getting more and more students, and I find that it's just getting way too crowded, with a gradually worsening teacher-student ratio.

The design is honestly a bit haphazard, with different modules having different styles. Some are really well designed, completely beneficial and interesting. Some others, not so much. My most disliked modules are those requiring groupwork, and those using 'flipped classrooms'. Additionally, the diversity of the student population is precarious, with almost 99% international students coming from just a certain single country. They communicate in their own language instead of English, which is extremely rude to the rest of us.
