Nottingham feels like the perfect place to go once you've finished 6th form or college. there are some great accommodations and facilities here that help you make that first step to becoming independent. Some of the first year accommodations are quite far away from the university such as the maltings but the tramline means you can get to the campus with ease, although they can be expensive if using them every day. My course is well thought out, you learn so many skills and the lecturers are enthusiastic and knowledgeable. There is some great food and coffee on campus and depending which course you are on you can get up to £100 on your student card which you can use to buy your lunch with. Something that could be improved about NTU is the student shops around the campus. there is currently only one and you cannot use your student card in there. Sometimes the uni campus can be hard to navigate so sign posting would be really helpful around the campus or a better functioning app that showed you where to walk. it is fine once you learn your way around but i got lost alot of the time in first year and so did other students. Due to BSC product design being a course work focused course. i feel that you do not get a lot of free time and the early start to lectures are quite hard especially if your sleep schedule is not perfect. Some of the content could be delivered in a much shorter time frame but overall the content is really good and you feel especially valued when designing for a client. we have had some interesting clients such as Rega and Alpkit where it really feels like your employed and designing for them yourself. Overall NTU is a brilliant university and I'm glad I chose it. if I feel like I'm struggling there is always someone I can email and get help from. I look forward to my final year!

The best aspect of BSC product design in my opinion is the skills we gather when taking the course. Skills such as CAD, rendering, electronics and technical evaluation feel like they will be very important in the future. it seems that there are many companies which would want to hire someone with these skills and you can easily specify into one of these. i would like to mainly focus on CAD and rendering, it would be nice if there was an option to differ and undergo a course or module where these where more prominent as these are my strongest points . I think a lot of the content could be delivered in a much shorter time and some of the in-lecture tasks we do seem like they are not that impactful and take up some time we could be working on our brief instead. I do like the fact we get 2 tutorials per week which helps us guide our work and overall i think the course flows really well!

Uni halls is great for the people you meet but the location of the maltings is a big drawback. My first year was in covid time and i feel like my freshers was non existent. The covid restrictions meant you could only see people that where in your flat and any parties where given a huge fine. I felt we where treated unfairly in our flat as if we made any noise at all we would get a noise complaint and be told to stop whereas the flat above and below us would party till early morning and have no repercussions. The washing facilities at the maltings where poor as there where 2 washers and 2 dryers for about 200 people. the washing machines rarely worked and the dryer would leave your clothes moist. The rooms at the maltings where ok but it was a 50/50 chance that you would be put in the old side (like i was) or the new side. the new side was much better and cost the same ammount which seemed very unfair. overall the maltings was not very good but the people i met there where!

The location and many courses make it a great place to study. I think what they can improve on is support for international students

The teachers are really good but some classes are very long

It good because it on campus and close to classes but it not very safe as gates are broken and the rooms are small for what we're playing
