It has been interesting and has taught me a lot, more in myself than it terms of my subject. I have learnt about being independent and it has been fun to live in the city. The loose way of teaching has proven a shock to the system that is still taking adjusting to.

Considering the size of the university and the amount of money they receive, it is shocking that the studios are so cramped and disorganised at times. As there are so many students accepted into the school, it can be hard to access all facilities without it being too crowded; it is also hard to organise contact time to work with a tutor and learn a particular skill. Whilst opportunities to learn are offered, slots fill up quickly. The facilities are also not fully accessible in the sense that all materials and processes must be paid for, and it is not cheap nor does it feel subsidised. As an art student who wishes to get creative, the lack of accessibility can put constraints on my creative ambitions. Basic supplies are almost always not provided. The facilities, such as the Mac books or print studios are good, but difficult to access.

I have not used personal counselling but it is readily available. The tutors are good when they are present, my tutor offers good feedback and helps me to develop my conceptual thinking. However, they are only in one day a week and critical feedback has only happened once or twice.

The university makes an effort to be inclusive and facilitate for minority students and those with mental health issues that may require extra support. However the school, despite its socialist culture, does little to offer fully inclusive support and opportunity in terms of financial aid for students who are not considered a minority or part of a college/course backed by certain elite figures. There is limited representation for people who do not take on a hard liberal stance.

Yes I can walk and travel to my university easily. There is a handy convenience store right next to the university which I visit regularly. There are also larger shops like a Morrison’s within a 10 minute walk.

There is a large variety but I am not involved in societies or sports.

Most: the freedom to create how you want, teachers can give feedback but ultimately you decide the creative process. I also like the potential for opportunity and growth. Living in London, it is what you make it to be. Least: lack of guidance and constructive criticism. Lack of organisation and cohesion. With freedom also comes the risk of getting lost.

There are often jobs events and help with CV checks, as well as regular emails offering work opportunities both paid and unpaid. There are lots of opportunities to get involved and increase your employability level.

The course is incredible, our teaching staff, course content, and resources available to us are truly phenomenal. The social aspects of ual as a whole are not good.

The course itself, the staff and how hard they work to help us are truly incredible and I genuinely think tech arts might be the best course in the country we all love it.
