The facilities at the university are very good and the lectures in History are engaging, with passionate tutors in seminars. The Campus does have some good features. Northfield bar is where I've met some of my good friends and the events that are held there are fun. Also the pints only being 3 quid is a big plus. The buses onto campus are semi-consistent, but we could do with bringing the 25x back, no idea why that got stopped. There is usually a great bustle around campus, except on weekends when the second and third years don't come in. This could be because there is not that much to do on campus, and nothing to really bring you back after the first year. The festival at the start of the year is always a big success, I don't know why more musical events aren't held near the campus, there is plenty of space for it.
The co-op is handy to have but the pricing is ridiculous, I know the university itself can't do anything about that but being a student I'm already skint. I don't need some massive chain supermarket trying to fleece all the money they can out of students because there's no competition.
I've never had to use any form of student support, but from what I've seen promoted, and what my girlfriend, who works as an RLC on campus, has told me, it seems to be effective and does get used frequently by students who are struggling with day to day life on campus.
One critique I have about my course, as I'm sitting here trying to organise 3 other people to do the work for a group project that is going to impact my grade, is that group projects are a terrible decision for grading individuals, I have tried my hardest to get this group together to work, coming up with the question and researching all necessary context, and still we have 3 days to record the presentation, and there is no word from any of them. I do like the fact that the majority of assignments are essays, sitting in a room completing a presentation is not a good way to determine someone's proficiency as a historian, and neither is group presentations, no matter how much they might be able to teach you about corporate meetings.
All in all I do enjoy my time here, I have a job, friends and a relationship all started through the university, but I would like there to be some quality of life changes for the things that annoy me especially on campus.

Like I said previously I believe the content actually taught and those doing the teaching are very good and engaging, however it is only some of the assessments that have me wondering what the point is.
As for work placements, I'm not sure that anyone I know doing History has gone on a work placement or is even thinking of going on a work placement. Although one of my flatmates who does Computer science is attempting to go on a work placement, and is struggling to find anywhere that will take him.
I know history isn't always seen as a guarantee for good work prospects, however, having a degree is always going to help, and I believe that the prospects are much better than what they used to be in this field.

What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
I met some of the best people in my halls, and I was always very comfortable and relaxed while staying there.
The location is good, they are cleaned regularly and students are given a good degree of freedom.
However, I was only able to afford it due to me getting a max loan in first year. I had no idea that any other accommodation was cheaper, I was given no information of prices at all. For what I was paying it really wasn't worth it, not so much because it was bad but because it was so expensive. The price of the accommodation, plus the price of the co-op being the only close place to buy food led to me hemorrhaging money at a ridiculous rate.
The wifi was also dreadful at times, it would just go down for 'maintenance' but would be down for days. Not good when you have assessments due in.
I know it I am making it sound the Uni is bad but it really isn't, just everything is quite good so the bad things are noticeable in the end.
