The University campus provides a great learning environment and venues to chill and study with or without friends. The Student Union is tremendously helpful and completely judgement-free. As a student, you feel like you have a say both in classes and overall especially with the Student Parliament in your corner. Overall Essex University is a first rate choice in higher education.

The lecturers and staff in the Philosophical, Historical and Intermediary Studies (PHaIS) are informative, helpful and all seem invested in their area of study. The recent merger of departments to create PHaIS have honestly left some students feeling like their course is not so important. History resources have been lumped together with studies that may seem on the surface to collaborate well but not so much in practice. History spaces where available before feel less accessible now. That being said, the History course is still full of interesting learning opportunities and good people and worth a go.
