Overall, the quality of teaching was very good and the lectures are clearly knowledgeable. Lots of support is in place for many different areas. There are many academic development courses about 'how to write an essay in the sciences' for example, or how to plan your time. I've experienced using the disability service which was useful and kind, however, you do need diagnoses or letters from your doctor for any concessions to be given. My college has put a lot of emphasis on social life and its been amazing, considering covid. However, I will say that I dont get on with the general student body in durham. Its hard to fit in if you are a POC, LGBTQ, or from a lower class background. Many people are white people from upper middle class backgrounds and often went to private school. Even as someone from a middle class background, I find it hard to relate, as a lot of them are quite 'posh.
