OVERALL UNIVERSITY RATING
Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
My experience at Bangor University is beyond what I could have thought it would be, I have became a better me, more confident grown up person, so friendly and no barriers between courses or ages, I’ve made friends I feel like I’ve known for years and have made friends I will know for many years to come. It was best decision i have ever made
Job Prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
They have the Bangor employability award, where you record all your achievements including sports clubs And societies. Also offer skills workshops which are free to help improve specific skills
Course and Lecturers
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
I like my lectures all taught differently by each lecturer, so not like sat in same old same old room. The seminars very engaging as include PhD students to help teaching to enhance learning from different perspective
How many contact hours per week do you have?
11
Students' Union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
Students union, plan loads of activities, so always something to get involved in, plan educational open lectures, weekly events such as de-stresstival to help support students in exam periods. I personally haven’t had too much envolvment due to being involved in sporty side of university so I have more involvement with the athletics union
Accommodation
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
Present, clean, very central to everything going on in the university. So glad all halls have en-suite bathroom, easy to make feel like home
Uni Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
Fantastic, perfect for a student as they are all free, included in tuition unlike some other universities I looked at when applying. If you need anything ask the university and they try best to sort it for you
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
The student life is good, quiet compared to big cities such as Manchester. 2 nightclubs however if you join clubs and societies the socials each club are fantastic and there is more then enough pubs to satisfy anyone’s taste, all in walking distance. Even for non drinkers, definitely no pressure at this university to drink, with the university building providing the city theatre and cinema with latest films constantly up for enjoyment with student pricing available
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
Clubs and societies are the best part of the university experience, all free and included. There is a club or society for everyone and if there isn’t one that takes the fancy the university will help you set obecyou want up. The university encourages envolvement with a fair at start of year showcasing every club on offer. Whether you have experience or a fresher to the sport the support is there to have a go, and if you don’t enjoy it no pressure or penalty for not going back, just join another one
Student Support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Support is fantastic, tutors are easy to access, always support when and where you need it and counselling devices made aware to all students where to access and are all free and time spent looking after you
