When I first arrived at Nottingham I had never felt so comfortable. Yes, this is a bit of an sweeping statement, but what I mean by comfort originates from the fact that this University feels like its own little world. University Park Campus is the perfect distance from Nottingham Town centre and Beeston, making exploring new areas easy. The facilities make you want to study and push yourself to expand your skill set- not just in an academic way. For example, I play the piano and I recently found the practice rooms where I just play for my enjoyment! It is also important to note that some of the University Park accommodation is under maintenance, which I think proves that some of the living facilities need to be improved. However, the social aspects of catered halls has led me to make great friends from all different blocks. So far my university experience has been great and I would recommend this university to many potential students.

As a Politics student there are many possibilities which I was amazed to hear about. From talks with former MI6 officials to trips to Parliament, this university knows how to fulfil a course to make it both professionally academic and fun! The variety of material we learn makes this course great. Ranging from philosophical studies to media orientated politics, the diversity of information and research makes me keen to finish coursework. I value seminars in this course as I believe they really help get to grips with the coursework and what your tutor will be looking for when marking a piece of work.

I love the location of my halls as it is situated near my lecture halls and near the Hallward library. However, for the price of an en-suite I expected a bit more of a spacious bathroom. Understandably to fit students in halls with en-suites room sizes are cut, nonetheless I have seen the difference with other types of rooms and I do not believe an en-suite is worth the extra grand or so. Sharing with one other person seems to work perfectly so I would maybe recommend this to potential students who would not want to pay as much. Moreover, I am in catered halls which makes me enjoy the social aspect of the dining halls however the food sometimes lacks in quality when measuring value for money. Again, I understand the budget of catering companies and their food sourcing programmes, however these are the only disadvantageous opinions I can think of. Overall, for first year students catered halls on campus I believe are a great choice when thinking about settling in etc.
