Loving it so far

I'm only in my first year so have only been at uea for a semester but I'm already certain that I made the right choice in coming here. It's a bit ugly but you learn to love it, the courses I've taken are super interesting and there's loads of extras you can do on the side like go to talks by politicians and so on. Socially it's brilliant with lots of societies and clubs putting on events along with numerous club nights and gigs. Norwich is excellent for music fans and that's one of the reasons I love it so much (which might sound silly but it's definitely more 'me' than other places I looked at). Uea is friendly, creative and quickly creeping up the league tables. Why go anywhere else...

Being a politics student I've not really taken advantage of most of what the uni has to offer as all I really need is my laptop and the library. The library is excellent though

Not used it yet but I'm aware of a range of different support services which I'm sure are very effective

The SU is great, particularly from the perspective of its facilities. I'm a big fan of the LCR and Waterfront for both gigs and club nights, and the SU bar is good too. Haven't yet had much involvement outside these but I've not heard any bad comments from elsewhere

I love Norwich, it's got everything you need and is really nice and quite pretty too. I've come from a much smaller town so those from big cities night not find Norwich as appealing since it isn't a huge city in relation to others

I joined a handful of societies (live music, concrete and politics), all of which put on a range of events and activities. They're cheap to join and a good place to make friends, and whilst I only joined a few, there's literally hundreds of options so something for everyone

All of my modules have been well run and I've liked the majority of my lecturers

I'm only a fresher so haven't yet had any careers focused events to attend or began looking for graduate jobs so I can't really comment, hence the neutral scoring

All of the accommodation is good, I'm in the village which is en suite but with smaller rooms and off campus, bringing the price down compared to the on campus stuff. I'm really happy with it, as is everyone else I've spoken to in alternative halls. Anyone who wasn't happy was easily able to move elsewhere which is definitely a positive. Only downside is the lack of oven - we've got combination microwaves but it does limit you a bit
