NCH is a place where a student can develop and flourish as a person, both intellectually and socially. The lectures, group seminars, and one-to-one tutorials are amazing and I am inspired by both the academics and my fellow peers. Its intimacy makes you feel like a person, not just another student in a long and large line of students in massive lecture theaters. Your academics know who you are and can help you to achieve your ambitions if you are willing to work for it. Sometimes the workload can feel full on and falling behind can put your studies at risk, but there is so much support from all areas of college life that it is difficult to lose track.

NCH is full of people who are genuinely passionate about their subject, and the humanities as a whole. It has an extremely friendly environment, from students to staff. Given that it is a small university, there is the opportunity to be part of a close knit community, but the various options for accommodation does give the chance to meet people studying at other universities. The societies are well varied, but if you do feel there is one missing, you're always welcome to make one! Studying is intense, but rewarding. Usually you're given one essay a week and one seminar task. It's useful to help practice writing skills and also look into issues more in depth, rather than having to cram it in during last-minute revision. The best thing is having the opportunity to have a one hour one-to-one tutorial to go through the essay and discuss it. At very few other universities do you have the opportunity to contribute to lectures or ask the lecturer to clarify points, and NCH is very good at catering to the needs of individual students, giving each student a lot of time when needed. The core modules are brilliant for widening your skill set and your employability, and the contextual courses mean you can study courses you didn't want to do for your degree but still had interest in or would complement your degree subject. It's a brilliant place to be!
