It’s a lovely university very friendly and welcoming with some great facilities. So far I have found the course to be very interesting and well taught with a mixture of lectures, seminars and practicals. For improvement however I think they could work better with commuting students as many events ran by them take place on an evening, sometimes many hours after the last lecture of the day and as such it is difficult for commuting students to attend as they have to travel to and from too often.

York uni has a beautiful campus and supportive teaching staff. The collegiate system works really well and there are lots of college and society activities for those who don’t drink as well as those who do. However, the bus between campuses is no longer free and the replacement is less frequent and less reliable. The student support team can take weeks to get back to you.

The course is a bit repetitive and all of the modules are quite similar. However, in second year you can choose modules so hopefully there will be greater variety of modules then. The teaching staff are really supportive and helpful. The contact hours are quite low but this can be either a positive or negative depending on personal preference.

The halls (david kato) are very modern and many have views overlooking the lakes. The college is gated so it feels very safe and secure. The kitchen is also very big and modern and easy to use. The only negative to campus east accommodation is having to commute to west every day, but this is worth it in my opinion. However, as the bus stop nearest david kato is closed and the next closest is a 10 minute walk away, it is almost quicker to just walk. Also, it is too far from any supermarkets to shop in-store so i always order asda delivery.
