I would say the student life and campus at Glasgow are great. There are lots of events and societies and the campus has a lot of great facilities and study spaces. There are not always adequate number of spaces though when it gets to exam seasons though which is an issue. In terms of my degree, I feel like I have access to a lot of opportunities and resources(online, in-person, societies, professors etc.). My course at the moment, while interesting, is very much an overview and I feel as though I haven't been able to engage with geographical issues and material from lectures as much as in other subjects. A great example would be that is no seminars/tutorials for first year geography as there are in other courses. I also think the binary nature of the lecture topics and essay questions has been odd for a subject like geography which is very interdisciplinary across the sciences and humanities. Overall however, I am really, really enjoying my uni experience.

I would also say the labs in first semester were pretty lack luster and did not actually teach us how to carry out proper field work and analysis. As well, while the lab project topics were relevant to geography, they did not link in well with the topics covered in our lectures. The form of assessments used have been great. The use of regular Moodle quizzes at the end of each unit has been helpful for revision and consolidation and essays are useful.

I love my halls but that's also likely influenced by the fact I have great flatmates. I live in a really convenient location for accessing campus, public transport and amenities. The kitchen is very well appointed and has a lot of space and storage. My room is smaller than the rest of my flatmates which is frustrating but it is still fairly nice and is en suite. My heating is also very good and works fine. We have cleaners come in once a week which is honestly more invasive and inconvenient than anything else. The washing facilities are overpriced and not all the machines work to the same standard. Circuit Laundry having a monopoly on student accommodation laundry is frustrating.
