The university of Portsmouth has the most amazing student support. The people here are dedicated to making sure their students are getting through their university experience positively, mental health being of top priority. Lecturers are understanding and the format of learning is a balance blend that doesn’t feel too overwhelming. The campus is also easy to navigate, with top facilities at disposal, and in the summer the city is fabulous to explore. Student life isn’t always easy, the halls are pretty stale and annoying, staff there are usually rude and the facilities inside are out dated, but what city has nice ones. The union isn’t anything special either, from what friends at other universities have said about their own Portsmouth student union feels quite lacking and boring in comparison. But the university is overall of amazing quality

The hours are good as I find I have plenty of time for outside study as well as a personal life. The course content is a blend of two degree subjects but both offer modules that I think are pretty unique to the university. It is taught through a mix of lectures, seminars and workshops, and whilst the first year was a mix of online and in-class, the second year has just been in person which has been better for myself as I learn best when face-to-face but there is the occasional need to pre-watch lectures online. Lecturers are the best part of the university, their office hours are decent and often can accommodate outside of them too. They really care about the students well- being and there have certainly been times I’ve been sent an email saying they are open to talk after noticing my down moods in seminars and I have taken them up on it. My prospects for after university are however small as there are rarely times they bring up ways to break into the business after university.

The location is ideal if your main point of study for first year is the Eldon building like myself. For the price, the halls are also of good quality but that’s just for the price; anything higher and I’d say no. The rooms are some of the biggest at the university in comparison to halls like Greetham. However, it can sometimes take a while for things to be fixed if broken and front desk workers can be rude if you have any questions outside of “do you have my package?” There is a lack of washer and dryers for the number of people in the building (4 in total for everyone to share) and there was plenty of times me and my flat mates had to call maintenance over silverfish. Overall, the halls are fine for the year but could certainly be better.

I have had an amazing time at university and the lessons are really good. I’m getting good grades and dedicate that to my lecturers. I would tell people that are going into university, to do everything they can.

The facilities are really good and there are lots of opportunities available

Very good. The lecturers are brilliant in responding to emails and will happily offer any extra help to keep up with lessons or to help in subjects you are less confident

It is a good union however I think that the funding could be split evenly as it is clear there is more funding in some societies than others

It is an amazing university in regards to distancing as it is all very central.

There’s a huge range of societies and sports options in the university schemes

I like the lectures as they are interesting however I think there should be longer lectures for some subjects as they sometimes feel rushed and is difficult to keep up.
