I study Journalism at the Marketon Campus (at Derby Uni) and find that it is such an immersive and engaging course- we really are being trained how to be relevant and current journalists, with the evolving skills that come with that. From learning about the utilisation of social media to going in the radio studios, I really do feel completely immersed in my course, especially as we largely learn by doing. Although this campus is fully kitted out to suit the courses it houses, sometimes it does feel like a bit of an afterthought compared to the main Kedleston campus, as that's where a lot of the union is based.

My course is taught in person, and I have 3 modules of 3 hours each a week. Lecturers are always on hand if we need them outside of these hours, and are always quick to respond- and keen to help.

The uni is central to the city, and has good transport links across the East Midlands. It takes me 15 minutes to walk to town from the campus.

The University of Derby is a great place to study as the lecturers and support staff are so friendly and helpful. The campus itself has lots going on to get involved with and lots of places to meet up with friends over a coffee or some food. The library has lots of study spaces and books to help with my assignments. And I like that it's so close to the city centre.

It's a mix of lectures and seminars. I have access to contact time with my lecturers who are always on hand to help and advise with projects. I also am able to do a lot of practical work, going out and finding stories.

Derby is very diverse and multicultural, something I value as a POC. There's lots of great places to go for fun and for some peace and quiet. I like that it's easy to get to other cities too as the train station is close to the uni and city centre and the unibus takes you wherever you need to go.

I like that it's super close to the shopping centre, bars and restaurants. And it's really spacious, safe and modern.
