Overall I have enjoyed my experience at university. It has been challenging but it is also easily the best decision I have ever made. Studying engineering was always going to be a steep learning curve but I have had a lot of support from staff and fellow students, and I'm doing very well. I feel like doing this degree will get me the job that I want. I've discovered new places (I'd never been to Sheffield before) met new people, had factory tours and been on placement to companies that I have a lot of respect for, so going to uni has changed my life for the better.

Food Engineering has integrated placements every year, I'm currently away on placement doing my 3rd year project and it is brilliant, I'm learning about the industry and I'm also making contacts that I could call on in the future.

Sometimes with the harder modules I'm not sure whether I understand what is being taught and it's only when I come to do an exam or coursework in that subject that I find out how well I understand it.

It provides an excellent service and allows us to easily form societies that allow us to meet students from other courses. It is also a great place to meet up for a quick drink or a society event.

Some of them (Liberty Court, Archways) leave a lot to be desired, but Central Quay was excellent. Bathroom very clean and hygienically designed, kitchen big enough for all housemates and well laid out with a good view.

Very good but more microwaves and free hot water would be an improvement.

There is a good selection of shops and bars, and a well located cinema.

There are lots of societies so if you wish to join one there is sure to be something that you're interested in. If not then it is easy to form a new one as long as it is distinct from existing societies. The societies are very inclusive although some charge high joining fees which are off-putting as not everyone has a lot of money at University.

The support from tutors is generally very good. Considering the amount of students they have to teach they are generally very good at knowing people by name and taking time to go through things with you if you don't understand something. Student support is good, they are very understanding if you have genuine Extenuating Circumstances and there is Student Wellbeing if you need support with your mental health.

In the Women in Engineering and Maths Society you are encouraged to join the official STEM Ambassador scheme and then go out with the society to schools and colleges in the local area to promote STEM subjects by means of talks/Q&A's, stalls etc.
