The campus is fabulous and the university is great

My accommodation is great

Best aspects are the course and the friends I’ve made. I am really passionate about film so this course has been really fulfilling. I’ve found like minded people who I hope to know for a very long time after uni. Some of the worst things are the travelling to campus this year, the strikes leading to delays in our assignment feedback and some of the teaching. The strikes were really unfortunate, I personally wrote an email to the vice-chancellor to advocate for better pay for my lecturers and never received a response. Some of my lecturers could benefit from some specialised teaching courses as they don’t always know how to hold a lecture room. Further more the 1st year campus accommodation is a downfall of the uni. The repair people were constantly having to do jobs for people like the vice-chancellor when there were flooding in the student accommodations. It was very unfair for them and us students. I find my own joys at uni and try to overlook and sometimes improve the bad parts.

The worst aspects of the course is the job prospects. As it is a film course there is no guaranteed jobs after uni. However this is not the fault of the uni but the reality of the industry. Some of the lecturers are really incredible and you can feel their passion for the subject. However some lean towards patronising and chastising us. This leads to a lack of respect between both parties.

It was good value for money. The only things were the maintenance which I’ve mentioned before. And the allocation of rooms and roommates. I didn’t connect with any of my flatmates. It felt like they threw a lot of the non-English students in together. So I had a mix of foreign older students and some under-grad students.
