This is a great university for all types of student life. Brighton makes for one of the trendiest and most engaging cities for a university. You get a very alternative mix of people with different fashion, vibes, and political views. My brother who also went here always described Brighton as the place where people who wouldn't fit in always fit in. The campus itself is generally quite nice, it's a very nice place to walk through to get to lessons, and isn't too spaced out. There is also lots of greenery that makes for amazing walking and hiking spots. I'm conflicted on the buildings as some of them look very nice, but others have definite questionable design elements, there isn't always consistency throughout all the buildings. However, the offices and different services you can get in buildings are consistently good, and after a short time you get acquainted with where most of the stuff on campus is. However, the Uni has been consistently shooting itself in the foot by closing services that students love which help the community and opening ones that absolutely no one asks for. Recently they closed a student union shop and Taj, the supermarket that many people went to and that was for many people the only place close to get many oriental groceries and spices without having to trek all the way off campus, as the Co-op has absolutely no consistency and is oftentimes half empty, as well as being very expensive. In it's place they opened a bike place that no one cares about or uses and another gymnasium... In a uni that already has two gyms, absolutely nobody asked for this and it's nothing but a downgrade. They also closed Northfield, one of the two main bars that students went to on campus, which absolutely killed a big part of the nightlife. Now, everyone goes to Falmer bar so it's always immensely busy, and they don't even offer half of the services that Northfield did so they're just gone. Overall, it's a good uni but you're better off going off campus for nightlife and using the much better services all over brighton city.

I like my course, and parts of it fascinate me, but the split up of time can be really weird sometimes. I can be doing about six hours of performing arts content a week where I just look at extremely bizarre postmodern work that feels like it's trying to be deeper than it is, and then I can attend a really interesting scriptwriting course but I only have one hour of that a week so my poor lecturer has to rush us through his slot and then give so many extra resources that he wasn't able to cover in the session. Also, it feels like we aren't using all of the spaces that I feel should apply to our course. We are mainly only ever in like 3 spaces, a tower garden room in the Acca, a blackbox in silverstone, or in the creative performance space. It feels like there are so many resources that I would think we could use but we never do. We've not gone up onto the stage once. We've had no real experience performing anywhere outside of a cramped little room, and it doesn't feel like we get to use all the resources at our disposal.

I stayed in two sets of halls, one during first year and another during second year. Stanmer Court: Far worse accommodation, it's only plus is being near the train and bus stations. You have to enter this big clunky gate to get in, if you're in blocks B or C it's a mighty long trek to get to your room, The common room layout is really bad for any sort of communing with your fellow flatmates. It also takes a very long time for some feedback to be acted on, for some reason we had our microwave taken for maintenance, and despite bringing it up, for the 2 months left we had in halls, they never replaced it so we just lived without a microwave. It is also so disconnected from the rest of the university that you feel less at one with campus life. They also had fire alarms going off so often, at some times up to 2 a week, often at night, never at a set time. My time in Amberley so far has been lots better, aside from little nit-picks it's a very good accommodation, good communal area, better room layout.

The campus is very big with lots of amenities.

The course content is really interesting and engaging.
