The University of Warwick campus is large and full of opportunities, good food, and support staff. People are eager to help, guide, and support students through their careers and their academics. It is difficult to find research opportunities outside of coursework and thesis requirements. Coming from an undergraduate degree in the US higher education system, I am used to the freedom of gaining experience working in labs and research groups on top of my regular coursework, a decision I was free to make based on a personal assessment of my workload and capacity. At Warwick, my experience so far has been that professors and departments are unable to take on students, or are reluctant to provide opportunities on top of their existing workload despite enthusiasm and interest.

This is a new interdisciplinary course, running only its second time. There are several issues with the combination of the modules and delivery of some of the lectures that might be ironed out in future instances of the course. Many modules overlap in their initial teachings, while some are taught by different departments and so have limited direct applications or connections to core modules. Some modules, especially the one on the Consequences of Climate Change, cover content that is highly basic at the master's level. Due to the diverse backgrounds of students enrolling, the course content has so far largely remained at the surface-level (as of week 4), which is frustrating for students who already enrol with a strong background and interest in climate mitigation. The best part of the course is the personal tutor, who is regularly available, kind, and highly supportive. The teaching team is deeply interested in their subjects, and this positively reflects in their delivery.
