My overall experience at the University of Bath has been highly positive and intellectually rewarding. One of the strongest aspects of studying at Bath is the quality of teaching and academic rigour, particularly the way theory is consistently connected to real-world application. The curriculum is well designed, structured, and aligned with current industry and research practices, which has helped me develop both technical competence and critical thinking. Academic staff are knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely invested in student learning, and there is an open culture that encourages discussion, questioning, and independent thought.
Another major strength is the campus environment and facilities. The University offers excellent learning spaces, libraries, digital resources, and specialist facilities that support both individual study and collaborative work. Being based on a compact campus fosters a strong sense of community, making it easy to engage with peers, staff, and extracurricular activities. The campus also prioritises wellbeing, with access to green spaces, sports facilities, and student support services that help maintain a healthy work–life balance, which is particularly valuable during demanding academic periods.
Beyond academics, the University of Bath provides numerous opportunities for student engagement, leadership, and representation. Through involvement in student-led initiatives and representative roles, I have found the University to be responsive to feedback and willing to engage in dialogue with students. These experiences have helped me build confidence, communication skills, and a sense of belonging within the wider university community.
There are, however, areas where the experience could be improved. While general career support is strong, offering more structured opportunities, such as work shadowing, alumni talks, and industry meet-ups, particularly tailored for postgraduate and international students, would add additional value. That said, the faculty has been extremely supportive throughout, especially in guiding students with placements and readily providing references, which has made the overall transition towards professional opportunities a positive and encouraging experience.
Overall, what makes the University of Bath a great place to study is its combination of academic excellence, supportive campus culture, and strong sense of community.

Overall, my experience in the course has been very positive and intellectually stimulating. One of the best aspects is the teaching approach, which effectively combines in-class lectures, studio-based learning, and independent research, creating a well-rounded and engaging learning environment. The balance between theoretical input and practical application has been particularly valuable, as it allows concepts to be tested and developed through real-world case studies, modelling exercises, and design-led assignments. This blended approach has helped strengthen both my technical skills and critical thinking.
The course structure and contact hours are well planned and intensive in a way that reflects professional practice. Regular lectures, workshops, tutorials, and reviews ensure consistent engagement while still encouraging self-directed learning. The studio culture fosters collaboration and peer learning, which has been a strong part of the experience. Importantly, access to lecturers and tutors has been excellent, and staff are approachable, responsive, and generous with their time, whether through scheduled tutorials or informal discussions. Feedback is generally constructive and detailed, helping students refine their work and better understand expectations.
Another major strength of the course is its industry relevance. The curriculum is aligned with contemporary challenges, particularly around sustainability, low-carbon design, and building performance. Exposure to tools, methodologies, and frameworks used in practice has helped bridge the gap between academia and industry. Guest lectures and external inputs have added further depth by offering professional perspectives and showcasing a range of career pathways.
In terms of areas for improvement, the course is demanding, and during peak submission periods, the workload can feel intense, especially when multiple deadlines coincide. While this mirrors real-world practice and builds resilience, slightly more spacing between major submissions could help reduce pressure and allow deeper reflection on feedback. That said, lecturers consistently encourage students, are open to feedback, and actively support individual academic and career goals.
Overall, the course stands out for its strong teaching, applied learning, and supportive staff. It offers an excellent preparation for both professional practice and further research.

What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
Overall, my experience at Host Centurion House has been largely positive. One of the aspects I like most is the convenient location, which offers good connectivity to the city and university, making daily travel relatively easy. The building provides a sense of independence that suits postgraduate students well, and the accommodation feels secure and well-managed. The rooms are generally comfortable and functional, offering adequate private space for both studying and relaxing. Having on-site support and clear communication channels for maintenance issues has also been helpful, with most concerns addressed in a reasonable timeframe.
In terms of areas for improvement, value for money could be enhanced. While the accommodation meets basic needs, the rent feels relatively high in comparison to the size of the rooms and the level of amenities provided. Some shared facilities, particularly kitchens, would benefit from more consistent upkeep, and clearer guidelines around shared responsibilities. Additionally, noise levels and cleanliness in shared spaces can sometimes be challenging, particularly in a large postgraduate residence where schedules and lifestyles vary. More frequent cleaning of communal areas and clearer enforcement of quiet hours could help create a more comfortable living environment for all residents.
Overall, Host Centurion House offers a practical and safe accommodation option for postgraduate students, with a good location and a generally supportive management team. With improvements in communal space maintenance, clearer expectations around shared living, and better alignment between rent and amenities, the halls experience could be further enhanced.
